Atherton Appeal

Harry supported Guide Dogs' appeal to equip the brand new training school for the North of England at Atherton. He was keen to help as he was to be one of the first puppies to train at the new school.

Harry was at the launch of the appeal on 7th October 2008 where he got to meet the Press. One of the newspaper articles can be seen here.

About Me

Hi. My name is Harry and I’m a Guide Dog Puppy in Training.

I was born on 16 January 2008 along with my brothers and sisters Walter, Whispa, William, Wendy, Wanda, Wilma and Win. My name doesn’t start with a “W” because I’m sponsored and my sponsors chose the name “Harry” especially for me. My dad is a handsome chap called Truman, he’s a Golden Retriever and my mum is Jazz – she’s a beautiful black Labrador.

On 5 March I came to live at Number 58 with my Puppy Walkers Liz and Steve, and this is a record of my time here. They’ve lived with a Guide Dog Puppy before, a lively lad called Alfie who has moved on to his Advanced Training, so I’ve got an awful lot to live up to. I’ll probably stay here about 12 months and then I’ll be off to university, where Guide Dog staff will teach me how to work in a harness, before I go out to work with my new Guide Dog Owner.

Wish me luck!

Update 29 July 2008: Alfie has qualified! He made the grade on 22 July and is now a working Guide Dog. Well done Alfie.
