Picture of Harry

Hi. My name is Harry, I'm a Guide Dog Puppy in Training and this is my Blog.

Atherton Appeal

Harry supported Guide Dogs' appeal to equip the brand new training school for the North of England at Atherton. He was keen to help as he was to be one of the first puppies to train at the new school.

Harry was at the launch of the appeal on 7th October 2008 where he got to meet the Press. One of the newspaper articles can be seen here.

Weekly Update – 11 weeks

Today Harry turned 11 weeks old.

Harry has now reached double figures and weighs in at 10.8 kg, that’s almost twice what he weighed 4 weeks ago when he arrived at Number 58. His tail has now stretched to 9½ inches (24 cm). He’s lost nearly all the squidgy puppy fat, but he still has far too much skin for his body and first thing in the morning his face still looks like a scrunched up paper bag.

Harry’s toilet training just gets better and better, now we only have the odd accidental puddle. His response to ‘come’, ‘sit’ and ‘give’ continues to be excellent and he definitely seems to have got the hang of ‘down’, all of which he was able to show off at puppy class this week.

in the boot of the car

Travelling in the car remains bottom of his list of things to do. Now his back legs are longer and stronger he can see over the top of the back seat. Which, according to Harry, gives him all the more reason to squawk, LOUDLY. Although we should be grateful, because now his objections only last for the first 5 minutes.

Harry has done lots of exciting things this week including trips out to the supermarket, the vets, various coffee shops and another Pilates class which he loves. He’s even done a little bit of fund-raising, but his best bit of the whole week had to be the day his best pal Goldie came to stay. She was just so much fun to have around, although I’m not quite sure she would agree.
